去る1月27日（月）、東京銀杏会新年会が第一ホテル東京5階「ラ・ローズⅠ」において、午後6時30分から盛大に開催されました。東京銀杏会会員、東京大学関係者2名、地域同窓会連合会３名、地域同窓会・さつき会幹部５名、留学生8名、応援部等運動部員13名、総勢100名の参加をいただきました。以下はその概要です。
開式の後、嶋津昭会長(1967法)がご挨拶、「2年後、東京大学は150周年を迎える。先日，NHKで「岐路に立つ東京大学」というテーマで特集番組があり、私も視聴した。おかしなことを言われるのではないかと心配していたが、東大の現役の先生方、同窓生の方々が社会で活躍していることが紹介された。東京銀杏会は150周年を盛大にお祝いしたいと思う。東京銀杏会として、東京銀杏会の会員として何が出来るか、いろいろと考えている。一つには当然のことだが、財政的に貢献したい。私は個人的に5年計画で寄付を考えているが、皆さんも気持ちを込めて、東京大学の150周年をお祝いしていただきたい。2027年、東京大学は150周年であるが、私にとっては卒業60周年である。ホームカミングデイで卒業10周年から始まって10年ごとに50周年まで、お祝いしていただいていたが、昨年から60周年のお祝いが始まった。いずれにしても、大学にはいろいろと考えてもらっており、大学との繋がりを確認することができる。
東京大学には全国に多数の同窓生がいるが、アルムナイとしてどういう貢献が出来るかについて考えている。本日は海外からの留学生に何人か来ていただいているが、そういう方が社会に巣立って行くときに何か、お手伝い、協力することがあるのではないか。東京大学の場合は学士会、校友会、同窓会連合会、各地域同窓会という複雑な仕組みであるが、それぞれが重要な役割を担っている。東京銀杏会は東京銀杏会なりの活動、会員の親睦を計り、皆さん方が生活の中でいろいろな楽しみを共にする、大学を応援し、現役の学生、あるいは後輩の方々と一緒になって活動する、そのような機会を持てればいい。今年一年、皆さま方が大いに活動していただくことを祈念して私の挨拶とさせていただきます」。
続いて津田敦東京大学理事・副学長からご挨拶を頂きました。東京銀杏会30周年へのお祝い、30周年は節目であり、30周年を機としての大学・東京銀杏会の絆の確認、2027年の東京大学の150周年が迫っていることが述べられました。寄付について、東京大学の経営に資するエンダウメントは順調であるが、一方、赤門プロジェクトは苦戦している。赤門は東京大学のシンボル、耐震補強のため、現在閉じられている。150周年を機に門を開き、周りの環境を整備したい。赤門が存在していることは、いくつかの偶然によっており、例えば戦時の空襲で本郷の周りで火災があり、赤門には延焼の危機があったが、建築学科の学生がバケツリレーで赤門に水をかけ赤門を守った。未来の世代に赤門を残し伝えたいと思うので皆さまの協力を頂ければと思う。東京銀杏会が同窓会組織の要として大学と卒業生をつなぐ中心であり続けてほしい、今後とも益々の発展・ご活躍を期待すると結ばれました。
この後、大学関係者、地域同窓会連合会幹部、地域同窓会・さつき会幹部、2024年1月以降入会の新入会員2名が司会を務めた佐久間みかよ参与(1981文)から紹介されました。
また、留学生8名（インド2名、イタリア、ウクライナ、カナダ、中国、マレーシア,USA各1名）が留学生と交流する会代表代行の小浪悠紀子副会長（1968薬）から紹介され、会場から盛大な拍手が送られました。
次に、地域同窓会連合会宮本洋一代表幹事からのビデオメッセージが映し出されました。ビデオメッセージの中では大阪・関西万博が4月に開催されるが、施設整備が進み、気運が盛り上がっていると述べられました。さらに、多忙の中、野口正博清水建設関西支店副支店長（2001工）が駆け付け、計画概要、施設建設状況、プロデューサー、配置計画、会場へのアクセス、チケット販売方法等多岐にわたり、説明していただきました。
その後、司会の佐久間みかよ参与から配布の年間スケジュール表に基づいて東京銀杏会の活動について説明が行われ、会議を除き、85回の催しを実施しているとの報告がなされました。
また、田中正雄幹事(1996農)から寄付金の支払い方法についての説明がなされました。
懇親会は氏家純一会長代理(1969経)のご挨拶・乾杯ご発声で始まりました。ご挨拶の中でNHK番組「岐路に立つ東京大学」に触れられ、「それは150周年記念の一つのステップではないか、岐路に立つというよりも、前に進んでいるのがよく出ていた」と感想を述べられ、さらに東大150周年記念事業について「エンダウメントは更に伸び、開け赤門、苦戦している赤門プロジェクトはここからぐっと伸びる」と述べられました。
「東京大学の150周年、皆さまのご健勝を祈念して乾杯」食事、懇親が開始されました。
この後、春風亭昇吉師匠(2007経)に漫談を演じていただきました。師匠の融通無碍、軽妙な語りに会場は大いに盛り上がりました。
その後はあみだくじの当選品の引き換えでした。当選品は春風亭昇吉師匠が主宰する東京六大学落語会の入場券、春風亭昇吉師匠ほか落語家の手ぬぐい、「四谷・源や」提供の食事券で春風亭昇吉師匠から当選者に手渡していただきました。 この後、昨年の新年会で能登震災の報告を行った三舩康道さん(1991工院博)から能登被災地現地の復旧の状況についての進捗コメントがありました。
次のコーナーは山本智昭地域同窓会事務局長（1978法）による最近目覚ましい成績を挙げた東大運動部の紹介。まず、硬式野球部は2023年秋から3シーズン続けてベストナインを輩出しました。アメリカンフットボール部は2024シーズン、明治大学、慶応義塾大学、中央大学、桜美林大学を破りました。陸上運動部は第101回箱根駅伝の学連選抜チームで復路8区秋吉拓真選手(工３年)、９区古川大晃選手(工院博)の赤門リレーを実現させました。古川選手の給水を行った八田秀雄教授とともに大いに東大卒業生の胸を熱くさせました。新年会では、秋吉、古川の両選手の話を聞くことができました。
次は恒例となっている運動部の紹介です。縣勇樹応援部主将から、黒崎雄大空手部主将、木村健人レスリング主将、今井爽人相撲部主将を紹介してもらい、それぞれ、部の現況、目標等についてプレゼンテーションを行っていただきました。
最後のコーナーは応援部の特別デモンストレーション。縣勇樹主将のリードで一高寮歌「ああ玉杯に」斉唱、クランツの演舞も加わるチャンスパターン・メドレー・ビクトリーマーチ、縣主将のリードで応援歌「ただ一つ」斉唱、エール交換。チャンスパターン・メドレー・ビクトリーマーチは会場の全員がメガホンを振り、大いに盛り上がりました。
最後は福下雄二代表幹事(1974経)の中締めのご挨拶があり、新年会を無事、終了することができました。

The Icho-kai New Year Party took place almost 1 year after I arrived in Japan at the beginning of Feb. 2024 for my current stay. Over the past year, I have participated in several events organized by the Foreign Students Supporting Club (FSSC), and I have been impressed with the variety of these programs. These events are a great way to explore the city and delve deeper into the cultural aspects that require the kind of familiarity usually only possessed by locals; that is, it would not be easy for short-term visitors or tourists to find similar events or activities without spending some time searching on their own or consulting people who have lived in the city for a long time. Aside from the events themselves, I have also enjoyed meeting and getting to know some of the participants. The volunteers belonging to the association are always kind to the participating group and are willing to provide additional support when needed.
As for the New Year celebration party, I really appreciated having the opportunity to attend it. It was a great chance to meet a larger group of alumni and other members of the University of Tokyo community. For example, I enjoyed finding out a bit about what programs of study or other activities several of the current undergraduate students at the university are pursuing. Moreover, the event itself was well organized (like the FSSC events mentioned above), offering several entertaining performances and informative speeches, as well as a wide variety of food and drink options. In closing, I would like to express my gratitude to the organizing members of the Icho-kai New Year party and the FSSC events for taking the time to plan such gatherings and giving me and other international visitors the opportunity to participate in them.

My heartfelt thanks go to Konami san (小浪悠紀子さん) of the Foreign Students Supporting Club (FSSC) for inviting me to the University of Tokyo New Year Party. Since I joined the University of Tokyo as a Postdoctoral Researcher, I have participated in many of the events organized by the FSSC. Each event was unique, and I learned a lot about Japanese culture, traditions, and food, and I visited many wonderful places. I am especially grateful for attending the Kabuki theatre performance, the several concerts, and the nice day trip to Kamakura. The New Year Party was an especially memorable event. This event took place at the stunning banquet hall of the Dai-Ichi Hotel in central Tokyo. The venue was absolutely beautiful, offering a fantastic atmosphere along with delicious food and wine. I felt truly honored to be a part of it. One highlight of the evening was the cheerleading performance ― their energy was infectious, and the whole room got involved, singing and cheering along. It was an unforgettable evening, set in such a grand atmosphere. I had the chance to enjoy some amazing Japanese food and connect with several interesting people from UTokyo. All in all, it was an experience I’ll always remember. I’m deeply grateful to the FSSC organizers and to Konami san for giving me the opportunity to attend this incredible event.

I felt honored to be a part of the student group that was invited for the New Year party with UTokyo alumni who graduated from over one to five decades ago. It was enlightening to hear their vision of how UTokyo, and Japan, should grow in the future and how the current students can play a role in that.
FSSC events are always special. I remember my first visit to Akasaka Palace with a group that had people from at least ten countries. In addition to exploring the place, the cultural exchange that occurred between the group members was, and is always, the most delightful part of any FSSC visit. Academic environment can sometimes cause one to feel secluded, but FSSC events make sure that we make friends and stay in touch with them. I look forward to meeting new students in the future visits and rekindling the connections made over the past visits. Once again, I thank Yukiko-san for extending the new year party invitation to me, and all FSSC members for hosting such a wonderful gathering.

いつもFSSCのイベントで、先輩方とつながり、日本の文化をもっと深く理解し、日本に馴染むために役立っています。
今回、FSSCの新年会に参加するのは初めてでした。イベント会場に到着した時はとても緊張していましたが、皆さんに温かく迎えていただきました。私の日本語がまだ上手ではないにもかかわらず、先輩方は辛抱強く会話してくださり、とても楽しい時間を過ごしました。
また、東京大学の相撲部や他のスポーツの成果の発表を聞いたり、みんなで大学の歌を歌ったりして、皆さんの誇りを感じました。
特に小浪さんに招待していただき、FSSCの皆さんにはイベントを運営していただいたことに感謝しています。今後のFSSCイベントも楽しみにしています。

First and foremost, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to FSSC for inviting me to the New Year party. The event was a delightful blend of cultures and camaraderie, and I felt truly honored to be a part of it.
The warmth and kindness I experienced from everyone made the evening unforgettable. Engaging in conversations with fellow students, esteemed alumni and faculty members not only made me feel welcomed but also made me learn so much from them. And the genuine connections we made are something I truly cherish.
I was particularly impressed by the insightful presentations on the upcoming World Expo 2025 to be held in Osaka. Learning about the innovative ideas and technologies that will be showcased to address global challenges was incredibly inspiring. Experiencing the activities of the “応援部” was also particularly exhilarating. Their spirited performances and the passion they displayed embodied the very essence of Utokyo’s vibrant spirit.
I extend my sincere appreciation to FSSC for organizing such meaningful activities. These events create invaluable opportunities for international students like myself to forge new friendships, immerse ourselves in Japanese culture, and engage in meaningful exchanges with both local students and members of the wider university community, fostering peace and cooperation among different countries. As we embrace the New Year, I wish everyone continued success and happiness. May this year be filled with joy, prosperity, and even more opportunities for us all to connect and grow together. Thank you for making my experience at the University of Tokyo so enriching, and I look forward to participating in future events that bring us all closer.

The New Year’s party on January 27th was an incredible experience! It was such a warm and welcoming event where I had the chance to meet so many wonderful people and learn a lot from them. The atmosphere was lively, and the energy throughout the evening made it truly special.
The events organized by the FSSC were amazing, and I really appreciate the effort put in by the members. It’s a fantastic initiative that helps international students connect with and better understand Japanese culture. During the party, I got to witness the Japanese way of celebrating, which was unique, entertaining, and full of fun surprises. The traditions, the interactions, and the overall vibe made the night unforgettable.
The mix of traditional and modern elements in the event made it even more fascinating. From the engaging activities to the delicious food, every part of the evening was thoughtfully arranged to ensure an enjoyable experience for all. It felt like a true cultural exchange, where I not only had fun but also gained a deeper appreciation for Japanese customs and hospitality.

The New Year party hosted by the alumni association was a wonderful event, both in atmosphere and in execution. As an attendee through the international students club, I appreciated the opportunity to participate and enjoy the hospitality of the organization.
The food, above all else, was lovely. A well-prepared meal is always worth appreciating, and this was no exception. The venue, too, was a pleasant place to gather, offering a refined setting that made the evening feel all the more special.
Beyond the immediate enjoyment of the event, hearing from the organization’s leaders was particularly encouraging. Their words carried a sense of anticipation for the future, especially in light of the upcoming world expo, and it was a reminder of the value of international collaboration. The sports demonstration, as well, was fascinating in its own way―a thorough blend of American and Japanese sporting culture that served as a compelling display of cross-cultural exchange.
It was, all in all, a lovely evening, and I am grateful to have attended.

During my first year at the University of Tokyo, the events organized by the Foreign Students Supporting Club (FSSC) were one of the key highlights of my experience in Japan. I appreciate the opportunities that FSSC provided to international students and was honored to be invited to the Tokyo-Ichokai New Year party.
The event was held at the Dai-ichi Hotel in Minato-ku and featured outstanding student performances, excellent cuisine, and insightful presentations. Through these performances, I was able to experience the university’s dynamic spirit and the profound enthusiasm that binds Todai’s community across generations. However, the most important part for me was the opportunity to interact with previous University of Tokyo alumni in an informal and friendly manner. I listened to many inspiring stories and was able to share a bit about my journey. I also want to share a special thank you message to the people who approached me to share their thoughts and prayers for Ukraine, which feels especially significant during this challenging time for my country.
I am immensely grateful to the FSSC for inviting me to this special evening, as well as for all the organizational work that you did. Thank you to the University of Tokyo Ichokai members and all volunteers for your efforts in creating this and past events. May this New Year bring you all happiness, unforgettable experiences, and new achievements.
